MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The American Red Cross is currently in emergency need of all blood types.
Fewer blood drives occurring over the Fourth of July holiday has resulted in a shortage of blood for all types. Currently there is only a five day blood supply on hand.
“Right now the blood is coming in as fast as we are supplying hospitals and transfusion centers with it. So we need everyone who is eligible to give blood or who has ever consider giving blood to do so well up your sleeve give a pie and save a life," American Red Cross Southwest Minnesota Region Executive Director Leah Pockrandt said.
The Mankato location on Homestead Road will host a blood drive tomorrow from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Before you go, visit the American Red Cross to pre-register and read up on donating.
Also consider downloading the Red Cross blood app, which will help you track the next time you can donate.
