MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The University of Minnesota Extension is educating dairy farmers on risk management options in light of low prices and other struggles.
A workshop held June 10 covered the new Farm Bill’s Dairy Margin Coverage plan along with a new program called the Dairy Revenue Protection, keeping price guarantees for dairy farmers.
Common questions from those in attendance centered around the Dairy Margin Coverage program.
“And how you can enroll for either one year of five years for the program and some of the different eligibility requirements for that and we just went over how the $9.50 dollar coverage level it appeared to be the highest pay out for farmers to enroll in the program,” said regional extension educator with the University of Minnesota, Nathan Hulinsky.
The deadline to sign-up for the Dairy Margin Coverage program through FSA is September 20.
