MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) — Today, Congressman Jim Hagedorn visited Mankato’s Jones Metal Inc.
The family–owned business took the day to show Hagedorn the facility and talk about workforce issues.
The goal was to advocate for legislation that would help small companies like Jones Metal grow.
Co–Owner David Richards says about 65–percent of workers are employed by businesses their size, showing the need for a level playing field to support their workers as well as the overall economy.
“Small business are at a little bit of a disadvantage in attracting workforce and retaining workforce. The bigger companies and government seem to have a little bit of the tax and other advantages – we have to make it even, but that really important that we can attract the workforce in places like Mankato, that we can fill the needed jobs here, make sure that companies just like Jones Metal can be successful, continue to grow and prosper, because that is going to sustain our way of life, our rural way of life out here in Southern Minnesota,” Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-First Congressional District) said.
Hagedorn serves on the House Committee on Small Business.
