MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KEYC) - The Mountain Lake Area Football Team took on Hancock in the 9-man state championship Saturday.
The Wolverines fought their way back after being down 14-0.
In a game-changing second quarter, MLA put themselves on the board for the first time when Mace Herrig ran the ball into the endzone, the score read 14-6.
With seconds remaining in the first half Wolverines quarterback Abraham Stoesz finds an open Adam Karschnik, the senior steps into the corner of the endzone for the team’s second touchdown of the contest.
After this touchdown the Wolverines set up for a P.A.T. but it’s a trick play and instead Stoesz passes to Karschnik again and the 2-point conversion is good, the game is all tied up at 14.
To the third quarter now, Stoesz rushes for five yards and dives into the endzone as MLA takes their first lead of the game.
Another 2-point conversion seals the deal and the Wolverines win it 22-14!
