Community comes together through Christmas lights

LAKE CRYSTAL, Minn. (KEYC) — Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Early Childhood and Community education staff, along with Lake Crystal Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lake Crystal, banded together to create Lighting Up Lake Crystal 2020.

Lighting Up Lake Crystal 2020 is the community’s way of giving hope of joy to the residents of Lake Crystal amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The lights will be on throughout the holiday season, but the event itself is on Dec. 5 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

This event is centered around driving through town to see all the lights and decorations.

It will end at LCWM Secondary School, where people will be able to wave at Santa, check out the colorful lights and make a free-will donation to benefit the Little Knights Preschool Scholarship Fund.

“It’s been hard for us not to have connection with our families, this year, we haven’t had our early childhood programming. We are limited in a lot of the things in which we can see families and so this is an opportunity for either to drive by or just through our cars. We will be able to be together as a community and come together to have this fun event,” LCWM Early Childhood Coordinator Kim Kleven said.
