MDH: 61 additional deaths tied to COVID-19, 5,371 new confirmed positive cases

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KEYC) - The Minnesota Department of Health reports 5,371 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. The total accumulative number of cases in Minnesota since the pandemic began is 338,973.

In our region, health officials report 49 new cases in Blue Earth County, 33 in Le Sueur, and 29 in Brown County.

There have been 61 additional deaths tied to COVID-19, including a Martin County resident in their 40′s. Of new the fatalities, 36 occurred in long-term care facilities. The statewide death toll is now at 3,845. Deaths among cases that resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities are 2,559.

There are 293,151 people who are no longer isolated.

17,828 people total have been hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of that total, 3,942 were hospitalized in ICU.

The total approximate number of tests completed is 4,439,728.

Governor Tim Walz plans to provide an update on COVID-19 community transmission and efforts to help keep long-term care residents safe.


DES MOINES, Iowa. (KEYC) - The Iowa Department of Public Health reports over 2,500 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, raising the total to 240,275.

There have been 84 additional deaths tied to COVID-19, raising the statewide death toll to 2,901.

152,330 people have recovered and are no longer isolated.

1,238,580 people have been tested statewide.
