MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The 410 Project in Mankato is giving local youth the chance to let their voices be heard.
The Bring Up Banner Project invites youth ages 12 to 18 to take part in the conversation, journaling, and reflection on what advocacy means to them. The second half of the project has participants designing and sewing a banner to represent their passion. Those banners will then be displayed outside of The 410 Project in downtown Mankato in hopes of inspiring passersby.
“The main thing for me is not to underestimate the young people in our community and the power that they have and to not underestimate the power that art has and how an object can speak volumes even though it’s just sitting still and to hopefully motivate other people to step forward as well.”
The 410 Project hopes to have the banners on display by the end of the month. There is still room for youth to register. Registration is $20 to cover the cost of fabric. Two sessions will take place on January 16th and January 23rd. We’ve posted a link to register under this story
