GOOD THUNDER, Minn. (KEYC) — With Gov. Tim Walz’s recent announcement to reopen bars and restaurants to 50% capacity starting Monday, restaurant owners like Jenny Frank are anxious to reopen.
Frank owns The Thunder Bar and Grill in Good Thunder, joining countless other restaurants and bars hit hard by the pandemic. They’ve had to lay off workers before the holidays and face a drastic drop in revenue with take-out orders only.
Thunder Bar has been able to accommodate outdoor dining by using a fire pit as well as outdoor heaters and look forward to once again offering indoor dining.
“On Wednesday when Mr. Walz announced it, we were very excited. We were excited because we miss our customers and our employees. We just miss having people in here and showing them a good time.”
To keep customers in recent weeks on the patio, Frank has offered specials on warm drinks and added a TV to their outdoor dining area.
