The Docket: Mankato, governor to discuss legislative priorities, Democrats prepare for impeachment

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Week two at the Minnesota State Legislature begins this week, and nationally, Democrats set the stage for impeachment.

Here’s what’s on The Docket this week of Jan. 11th, 2021.

With the regular session underway up at the Minnesota State Capitol, the city of Mankato is getting in on the action.

The city is holding a meeting on Monday to discuss its legislative priorities.

The meeting is over Zoom from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In St. Paul, the House of Representatives has not yet agreed on permanent rules to operate under, instead agreeing to temporary ones to set up their committee structure.

Permanent rules should come to a vote this week.

Meanwhile, Gov. Tim Walz and other legislative leaders are set to discuss their priorities for the session Monday.

Nationally, Democrats are setting the stage for impeachment.

Monday morning, House Democrats plan to call on Vice President Pence and President Trump’s cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

If that doesn’t work, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Democrats will begin impeachment efforts, accusing the president of inciting an insurrection at the Capitol.
