MDH: four additional deaths tied to COVID-19, 980 new confirmed positive cases

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KEYC) - The easing of indoor dining restrictions comes as Minnesota sees its lowest single-day death toll since the beginning of November.

The Minnesota Department of Health reports 980 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. The total accumulative number of cases in Minnesota since the pandemic began is 437,552. Of those total cases, 34,004 are health care workers.

There have been four additional deaths tied to COVID-19. Half of the new deaths occurred in long-term care facilities. The statewide death toll is now at 5,711. Deaths among cases that resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities are 3,655.

There are 417,005 people who are no longer isolated.

22,815 people total have been hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of that total, 4,783 were hospitalized in ICU.

Southcentral Minnesota currently has 5 adult ICU beds and 134 non-ICU beds available for use.

The total approximate number of tests completed is 5,852,830.

DES MOINES, Iowa. (KEYC) - The Iowa Department of Public Health reports 1,330 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, raising the total to 297,278.

There are 11 additional deaths tied to COVID-19, raising the statewide death toll to 4,139.

256,152 people have recovered and are no longer isolated.

1,397,612 people have been tested statewide.
