Katie Kaplan is an anchor for the WCTV Eyewitness News at 4 p.m. and a special assignment reporter.

She is the creator of WCTV's award-winning "Unsolved" series, which delves into some of the region's most notorious missing persons and cold cases providing the public a one-stop-shop to learn more about the crime. She spends weeks at a time investigating, interviewing, filming, writing, and editing each story in an effort to humanize the victim and in the belief that someone, somewhere, knows something.

Unsolved Florida was recognized as the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists 'Best Investigative Series' for a small market in 2022. Her report on a 15-year-old Tallahassee cold case was recognized as the 'Best Investigative Report of 2022' in the market.

Katie was named the 2020 Florida Associated Press' 'Best Breaking News MMJ.' Her diverse reports include the aftermath of Category 5 Hurricane Michael, Florida's 2018 midterm elections, and the Perris Prison home in Southern California.

Prior to coming to the sunshine state in 2018, Katie was an anchor and reporter for KESQ in Palm Springs, Ca. and an evening news anchor at KFBB in Great Falls, Mt. Katie interned at Entertainment Tonight in Los Angeles where she was a published reporter.

Katie has always wanted to "do the news," something that is substantiated by several childhood videos of her reporting "live from the living room." Viewers can join her in living out her childhood dream every weekday from 4 to 5 p.m. alongside her husband, WCTV evening anchor Ben Kaplan.

She is passionate about victim advocacy and veterans' causes. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hanging out with her family.
