Kelsey Marier became an Anchor/Producer for the morning newscasts at KTTC in July 2021.
Previously, she was a general assignment Reporter at KOLO 8 News Now, the ABC-affiliated station in Reno, Nevada for nearly three years. She covered a variety of topics there including wildfires, the COVID-19 pandemic, racial unrest, and the 2020 Presidential election. Kelsey also led the design and production of the first and only local 10pm newscast in Northern Nevada, which later won the station's first ever Emmy Award.
Before KOLO 8, she worked at WCTV, the CBS affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida for for shy of three years. She worked as a producer for the morning newscasts, later getting the opportunity to report on weekend mornings. She also led the design and production of the inaugural 4pm newscast there. Kelsey produced a number of events while in Florida, including four major hurricanes, the Parkland school mass shooting, the Pulse Nightclub massacre, and the 2016 Presidential election.
Prior to moving to the sunshine state, Kelsey graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Arts in Media. She scored her first job out of college at WDIO, the ABC-affiliated station in Duluth as a part-time news producer. Before heading north to college, Champlin, Minnesota is where she called home. Ever since she was little, Kelsey knew she wanted to work in broadcast news. She has a strong passion for writing and telling people's stories.
Outside of work, a perfect day in Kelsey's world would start with a great cup of coffee or tea and brunch with friends. Then, an afternoon of exploring the outdoors, preferably with a dog near a lake or snowboarding in the winter. Later, maybe a bit of retail therapy, getting frustrated putting together a puzzle, or perhaps watching a good tv show or movie, followed by a homemade meal surrounded by family. Kelsey is a foodie and is constantly taking food or restaurant recommendations. She will also always ask to pet your cat or dog, as she has a strong love for animals!
