Mankato Marathon festivities kicked off this morning at Myers Field House.

Runners and volunteers prepared for Sunday's marathon during the 7th Annual Scheels Sport and Health Expo.

Inside the Myers Field House, vendors set up stations with activities ranging from rock climbing and bowling, to shopping booths to kick off the marathon weekend.

"An expo is kind of a typical expectation for a marathon, as we understood it when we started the event. It's also where all of the runners get their bibs and their shirts prior the race," Visit Mankato President Anna Thill explains.

Those running in the event had the chance to speak with athletic service providers, and learn tips at a the Clinic Speaker Series before the big race.

"The Mankato Marathon is about getting anyone participating in one way or another," Thill adds.

Even toddlers got a taste of tomorrow's race in the annual Toddler Trot and Diaper Dash. Children ages 1-5 raced to the finish line in the toddler trot. As for the Diaper Dash, babies crawled to the finish line across a mat.

The marathon starts at 8 am at Minnesota State University Sunday October 16.
