Region Nine Development Commission will be hosting a Connect Rural Broadband Summit this spring.
The effort is aimed at improving broadband access throughout the southern Minnesota region.

Region Nine invites community leaders, service providers, business owners and concerned citizens to the summit to identify future goals.

Officials at Region Nine say access to affordable high-speed internet is imperative in today's economy.
"Really the need for building and improving broadband infrastructure across the whole region can really be a catalyst to local economies and ultimately really lead the regional economic growth," Region Nine Development Commission executive director Nicole Griensewic Mickelson said.
The summit will be held on April 5 at South Central Service Cooperative in North Mankato.
