Shooting In St. James Leaves One Woman Dead, Another In Critical Condition
SAINT JAMES, MN- Just before 5:45 p.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of First Avenue South, law enforcement responded to a report of shots fired inside a residence.
The Saint James police department along with the BCA and Watonwan County Sheriff's Office haven't commented any further in regards to the incident.
However, a conversation with the grandson Sunday afternoon portrays what happened.
The 20-year-old grandson not only lives at the home but was a witness to the shooting.
He says an argument between his grandfather and grandmother broke out over their anniversary, with he and his mother also inside the home.
The grandfather then grabbed a shotgun from his bedroom and shot his wife inside the living room, according to the grandson.
The mother then fled the house with the grandfather eventually tracking her down at a neighbors home and shot her point blank, just two houses away, the grandson says.
When police arrived, the grandfather peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody.
The mother ended up dying from her injuries and the grandmother was airlifted to St. Mary's in Rochester in critical condition.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
