ST. JAMES, MN - Scott Francis Engelbrecht had his first appearance in court at the Watonwan County Courthouse at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The judge set Engelbrecht's bail at $1,000,000.  He is still being held at the Watonwan County Jail.

St. James Police say last Saturday evening, 59-year-old Scott Engelbrecht allegedly shot his wife, 67-year-old Joyce Engelbrecht and his step-daughter 43-year-old Rachel Linder with a .22 caliber rifle.  Joyce Engelbrecht died from her injuries the next day at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester.  Linder was found dead at a home two doors down from the scene.

Police say when they arrived at the home on 1124 1st Ave. S, Engelbrecht surrendered without incident.

Scott Engelbrecht is being charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree murder and one count of 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon.  Engelbrecht's next court appearance will happen on Tuesday, June 26 at 3 p.m.
