Record Travel Expected This July 4 Holiday
Gearing up for July 4 holiday travel? Unfortunately your route might not be smooth sailing.
AAA predicts a record 39.7 million people will hit the road over the long weekend through Sunday July 8, that's a 5 percent increase from last year's numbers.
MnDOT is urging caution as many drivers will be encountering work zones and flooded areas on the way to their destination.
Drivers should be aware of closures due to flooding near Henderson, Le Sueur, St. Peter, Sherburn as well as near Shakopee and Chaska.
A number of construction projects are also underway, including Highway 169 down to a single lane from St. Peter to Le Sueur, as well as single lane traffic on Highway 14 in Mankato and a detour on Highway 14 in New Ulm.
