A fresh blanket of snow means snowmobilers are gearing up for the season.
That has the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources warning of a new law that went into effect this year.
It's called Little Alan's Law. It was created after a snowmobile driver with multiple DWI offenses struck and killed 8-year-old Alan Geisenkoetter Jr. earlier this year.
Under the new law, the DNR says people convicted of a DWI, regardless of the vehicle type, will lose their driver's licenses and will be prohibited from operating motor vehicles, including snowmobiles.
The law went into effect August 1.
