On Day 27 of the partial government shutdown, the Department of Human Services is announcing some temporary relief for recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
SNAP participants will now receive their February food benefits in mid- to late January.
According to the Minnesota Department of Human Services, more than 400,000 people receive SNAP, 70 percent of which are children, seniors and people with disabilities.
These early benefits are for the entire month of February.
