The City of Mankato is now accepting for proposal requests in the Community Development Block Grant Program.
The money is awarded through a program with the United Stated Housing and Urban Development department, which operates on a five year plan.

The city is basing where the funds are dispersed based on needs expressed by the community.
"We look to provide those grants to social service providers that are meeting the identified needs, so in this case it's things like expanding shelter beds, food support, transportation services, chore services, removing cultural barriers and other items that were identified," says City of Mankato's Housing and Economic Development Coordinator Kristin Prososki.
Around $50,000 in grants will be awarded and the deadline to apply is February 15.
The proposal application can be downloaded from the city's website is attached here.
