New Ulm, Minn.-- The Youth POWER (Positive, Optimistic, Welcoming, Encouraging and Respectful) Group of New Ulm is an organization for kids 7 to 13 years old.

The group started last June. Their activities alternate between fun play days and service projects.

Tonight at the New Ulm Civic Center, they enjoyed pizza and skating with the New Ulm Steel hockey team.

"Because we feel like there's other role models. There's fun things to do." said Youth POWER Group coordinator Melanie Griebel, "Also get physical activity and promoting being more positive. Life is good. It's enjoyable. It doesn't have to be scary or things like that."

The Youth POWER Group was started by the Optimist Club of New Ulm.
