A Carver County man is suing the Minnesota Department of Corrections, accusing agents of violating medical marijuana laws while he was on probation.

The lawsuit, filed by Mankato Law Office, Knutson and Casey, claims DOC and its probation agent denied the man use of the marijuana medication that he was allegedly prescribed by doctors.

The lawsuit claims the man was given the prescription to treat symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression.

He was also allegedly registered under the Minnesota medical marijuana law.

The man was allegedly told by probation officers that if he chose to follow his doctor's advice he would be faced with a parole violation and possibly sent to prison.

The lawsuit is requesting a hearing for a temporary restraining order that would allow the defendant to take his medication as prescribed.
