St. Peter, MN-- The defending section 2AAA champion Mankato East boys basketball team battled Waseca in a rematch of last year's section title game Thursday night.

Waseca wins it, 63-54.

Waseca is heading back to the state tournament for the second time in four years.

"The game was crazy, they start the game 9–0. If we can go through adversity and fight back like this, I'll take our team in a lot of games," said Matt Olsem, Waseca senior.

"Anytime you play Mankato East, you have to play a good game in order to win. Coach Madson does such a good job with those guys. They're a top five team in the state for a reason, we had to really go out and earn this section final win. What a good feeling it is to see the resiliency from these guys down the stretch in the second half," said Seth Anderson, Waseca head coach.
