GLENDALE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) — Two children and their mother are dead in what police believe was a murder-suicide following an initial shooting outside of a sports bar in Arizona.

Glendale police first responded to a shooting near Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill just after midnight on Monday.

Glendale police spokesperson Jose Santiago said a man and woman were outside the bar in the parking lot when multiple gunshots were fired at them.

The man, identified by family members as 39-year-old Nolan Davis, called 911. He told officers that his wife, 38-year-old Andrea Davis, drove to the bar and fired shots at him and a woman before fleeing in a gray SUV.

Santiago said the unidentified woman, 36, was in her car trying to leave the parking lot when she was shot in the back of the head.

She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive. Her name has not been released.

Santiago did not confirm the woman’s relationship to Nolan Davis but said the two knew each other. Nolan Davis was not injured in the shooting.

Nolan Davis then told police that his wife texted him to say that she was going to hurt their children at their home about two miles away in Phoenix.

Shortly after, Nolan Davis said he received another text from his wife that had a photo of one of their children bleeding from the head.

Police arrived at the home around 2:30 a.m.

“Because we already knew this was a dire situation, officers forced their way into the home and that’s when they encountered this horrific situation,” Santiago said.

Glendale officers found the bodies of two children and Andrea Davis. Police believe she shot both children in the head before turning the gun on herself.

Loved ones identified the two children as 18-month-old Andolan and 10-year-old Austin.

“They were little, you know. They didn’t deserve it,” Nolan Davis’ cousin, Felicia Queen, said. “They still had a whole life ahead of them. And it’s not fair. I can’t even imagine what my cousin’s going through right now.”

Queen said she was shocked when she learned the news.

“He is a very good dad. And she was a good mom, so please don’t, just whatever happens, don’t portray her to be some … she did what she did, but she wasn’t a horrible person. She wasn’t,” Queen said.

Andrea Davis’ best friend, Amy Bowers, said she is heartbroken and shocked.

Bowers said the Davises were together for 12 years and had a great marriage until about a year ago, alleging that an inappropriate relationship between Nolan Davis and a co-worker made Andrea Davis “completely lose her mind.”

“She was just, she was not feeling good. And she’s been asking for help from everybody. Like it’s not been secret,” Bowers said.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive in the shooting.

Bowers said she hopes the children’s final moments were peaceful.

“When I think about what the kids were going through last night, it absolutely breaks my heart, because what happened? That really is the part that’s killing me the most, those babies. I just, I don’t want them to have seen their mom in any different light in that final hour,” Bowers said.

Both the Glendale and Phoenix police departments said they had no prior involvement with the family. There was no history of domestic violence or any behavioral health incidents.

“Officers are walking in, this is traumatizing to not only the families involved here, but to the officers involved as well,” Santiago said. “When you walk into a situation like this, this is horrific for everyone. This father is going to have to live with the fact that his children are now gone. He knows that this was at the hands of his wife.”
