Meet the local winner of KEYC’s Star Spangled Sing Off contest

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - For the past few weeks, we’ve been searching for a standout performance—right here in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa—with local singers stepping up to deliver their best take on The Star-Spangled Banner.

We received more than 20 outstanding submissions from across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.

And those entries came from folks ranging in age from 19 all the way to someone in their 70s.

You watched and you voted—helping us narrow it down to one winner.

Congratulations goes out to Ashley Shaefer of New Ulm!

Ashley now moves on to the next round, representing southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa as the Star-Spangled Sing-Off continues in the regional competition, for a chance to all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville to film a performance of the Star-Spangled Banner that will air on Gray Media stations across the country
