PEORIA, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) — Hundreds of law enforcement documents have been released in a murder case where a son is accused of killing his parents earlier this year.

Jonathan Turk has been charged in the deaths of his parents, Tina and Fraser Turk, after being arrested in March.

The dark details of what happened the night of March 31 were laid out in 300 pages of new records. A scene out of a horror movie reportedly unfolded inside the Peoria home at 83rd Avenue and Jomax Road.

Among the newly released documents was the 911 call that allegedly included a confession from Jonathan Turk following the brutal murder.

According to investigators, Jonathan Turk called 911 about 15 minutes after the murders. By the looks of the transcript, he was reportedly calm, telling the dispatcher he had done it and had waited for them outside the home.

“A murder.”

“My parents, I did it.”

“They’re lying on the floor; I was angry with them.”

Jonathan Turk added that he used a knife and a hammer to “kill mom and dad.”

According to the transcript, Jonathan Turk told the operator he was mad about the medication he was put on, and that the weapons were in his room in a trash can.

Records also revealed that Turk was at a Walmart the day of the killing, buying the alleged murder weapon, appearing on a surveillance camera buying a hammer.

The report indicated Jonathan Turk’s decline started in early 2023 when he sent threatening letters to churches, neighbors and police departments across the state.

It wasn’t made immediately clear what he wrote, but the letters happened so often that records show Peoria police created an awareness bulletin pointing to Turk’s mental illness.

Jonathan Turk’s parents were said to have tried to get him the help he needed multiple times over the years, including three times right before their deaths.

Advocates who knew the family said this was the result of severe mental illness that wasn’t being properly treated.

Advocate Crystal Fox helped create a group called Arizona Mad Moms. She and others in the group have had personal struggles with the state’s mental health system.

Jonathan Turk is facing charges including two counts of murder. It’s not clear when he’s due back in court.
