MSU men’s hockey adds Rhett Pitlick ahead of season

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Minnesota State men’s hockey team is making a splash ahead of the upcoming season after announcing senior Rhett Pitlick is joining the program.

Pitlick spent his last three seasons playing for the Minnesota Gophers and put up 36 points for Minnesota last year on 19 goals and 17 assists to lead the team.

Pitlick was selected 131st overall in the 2019 NHL entry draft by the Montreal Canadiens.

The addition of Pitlick will help fill the void left by Sam Morton who’s currently in the Calgary Flames organization. Morton recorded 24 goals and 10 assists for MSU this past season.

MSU is set to start the season on October fourth for the season opener against the University of Michigan.
