NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A South Central College program recently received a new set of wheels that will help aspiring truck drivers.

Volk Transfer donated a truck and trailer to the South Central College Foundation for use by the college’s Customized Workforce Education division back in December to use with the division’s new DCL licensing program.

The CWE division asked the college’s graphic communications program to design a vinyl wrap for the vehicle which was unveiled Monday afternoon.

SCC says that the partnership with Volk is just one example of the college working with employers to continue building a sustainable workforce.

“The CDL program started because we heard from employers that there was a high need for licensed commercial drivers. This came about around the same time that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration put out new requirements for entry level driver training,” said Dr. Annette Parker, President of South Central College.

South Central College says that the CWE division serves an average of 12,000 people each year.
