MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) -Numbers are coming in on this weekend’s Mankato Marathon.

In all more than 3300 runners from 36 states and Canada ran in events over the weekend.

Organizers said that those numbers are right on par with last year’s, which had inflated numbers due to more than 300 extra runners come from the cancelled Twin Cities Marathon.

While exact economic impact is still being calculated, organizers of the event said that the marathon brings people in from an average of 81 miles away, which makes a sizable impact on the area each year.

”If you’re travelling for a race and you’re coming from 81 miles or further you’re going to stay at a hotel and that means you’re going to eat Friday night here at a restaurant, you’re going to eat after your race, all of that. So that really does bring people to come into Mankato and stay in Mankato,” said Visit Mankato’s Joy Leafblad.

Next year’s Mankato Marathon is already on the calendar for October 17 of 2025, and registration opens December 1.
