MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) -Just five days remain until Election Day, and before long the campaigns and voting will be said and done.

In the last week some candidates are making one last push towards voters while others are calling it done, and politicians say that the last week of campaigning is always a stressful moment.

“Most people are wondering if they did enough, if they reached enough people, did they knock on enough doors, handed out enough literature,” said state senator Rich Draheim (R - Madison Lake).

While the majority of attention is on the presidential race there are other races down the ballot, and state lawmakers want to emphasize the importance of those races alongside the marquee election.

“State legislature, school board, city council, county commissioner we need people’s voices to be heard and those races are just as important as the national ticket,” said state senator Nick Frentz (DFL - North Mankato).

That’s not to say legislators aren’t concerned about the presidential election however.

“Obviously if they ask me I’ll tell them where to vote or how to vote but I think people need to reflect on what’s best for them and their family and then what has changed since the last election,” Draheim said.

“I’m looking for candidates that say they will work for everybody, and that send a message that we’re all in this together, which we are,” said Frentz.

Any unmailed absentee ballots should now be delivered in person, and county election offices will be open every day until Election Day for early voting.
