MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Salvation Army’s bell ringing campaign begins a week from Friday, and they’re honoring their volunteers this weekend.

Sunday will see a “Bell Ringer Blessing” where the Salvation Army wants to bring all of their volunteers and community members together before the bell-ringing effort begins.

Music and food are meant to celebrate the volunteers who make the effort happen year after year. The event is public and organizers say that they want to take a day to remind their volunteers and themselves what they’re fighting for every day.

“We will have the opportunity then to share a little bit more about why we’re doing what we do. Some of the success stories we’ve had with people we’ve served throughout the year and just the impact of the dollars we raise,” said Captain Andy Wheeler of the Mankato Salvation Army.

The event will be at the Salvation Army this Sunday starting at 6 p.m.
