Report: Family of teen killed at state park plan to sue Minnesota DNR

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The family of a Minnesota State University student killed in a landslide at Minneopa State Park last year plans to sue the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
That’s according to a report by the Star Tribune.
The parents of 19-year-old Jack Loso say state officials were negligent in warning park visitors about the risks of landslides in the area.
Loso visited the park with his sister and cousin on Dec. 2, 2023. and had walked down a trail to the base of the lower waterfall.
The sandstone cliff above him collapsed and buried him.
Loso’s parents say state officials should have installed signs warning of the dangers of falling rock.
They claim the cliffs had been visibly deteriorating for several months before their son’s death.
An attorney for the family says he plans to file the lawsuit within the next month.
