Teen sentenced for February murder of another in Mankato
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - In an emotionally filled Blue Earth County courtroom Monday, a decision was made in the murder of Marcus Romaine Cargill, Jr, who was killed back on February 15th 2024
Emmanuel Isaac pleaded guilty to second degree murder with intent back in June.
The judge handed down a sentence of 282 months or 23 and a half years. Just over 15 of those years will be served in prison with the remaining sentence to be served on probation.
Isaac will serve his time in the St. Cloud Correctional Facility with 291 days of credit going toward his time in prison.
Back in June, Isaac entered a guilty plea for the February 15th murder of 19-year-old Marcus Cargill.
A witness at the scene said Isaac shot Cargill Jr. at least three times.
Isaac and the driver of the vehicle they left the scene were eventually arrested in Breckenridge, in northern Minnesota, nearly 200 miles from Mankato.
Cargill’s family delivered impact statements at a previous hearing.
