MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Mankato’s City Council has passed next year’s tax levy and operating budget.
Overall the city will operate on a budget of around $162 million and the property tax levy will increase by 4%.
That number will go into the city’s normal operating budget as well as help cover repairs to Sibley and Land of Memories parks for flood damage that isn’t being covered by FEMA.
The budget increase is similar to the increase seen in last year’s budget, and the city estimates that taxes for an average home will increase by about $12 for the year.
