Charges filed in New Year’s Eve shooting in Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) -18 year-old Abdikhadar Fakhi Mohidin of Moorhead has been charged with 1st Degree Assualt resulting in Great Bodily Harm, 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, 3rd Degree Assault resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm and Possessing a Firearm Without a Permit.

All three assault charges are felonies and each come with a minimum sentence of three years.

Mohidin is accused of shooting a woman in the Benco Electric Cooperative in rural Mankato.

The victim was taken to Rochester for emergency surgery.

Mohidin’s first court appearance is scheduled for January 16.
