Demolition begins on downtown buildings

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Demolition on the Landmark Center and City Center Hotel buildings began in Mankato Wednesday.

According to contractors, demolition was planned to begin earlier this week but was postponed due to the cold weather.

Once demolition is finished construction will begin on two hotels. One hotel will have a rooftop restaurant that will be connected to the existing skyway and Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.

The Hotel Mankato project in its entirety is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
