MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Parts of Walnut Street and 2nd Street in Mankato have closed for utility work related to the City Center Hotel demolition.

The demolition began back in January, and much of the former Landmark Center and City Center Hotel have been demolished.

Utility work disconnecting the site from surrounding powerlines is a part of the project that contractors say has started a few weeks ahead of schedule.

The area will be closed for a number of weeks, and the area is expected to reopen in mid-April.
