MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The future owners of Good Counsel Hill are preparing to host new tenants on the property.

The Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership agreed to purchase the property from the School Sisters of Notre Dame back in February.

The group plans on making the space a home for nonprofits and commercial groups, and hosted some of those groups on the property on Tuesday, giving a presentation of the plan and a tour of the property.

Leaders of the project say that while they can’t confirm any new tenants of the property yet, there is significant interest and a need to be filled in the community.

“I’ve heard from quite a few nonprofits that are looking for space whether it’s office space or programming space, or even to utilize the space for performing arts. So we cast a wide net, we’re not sure who might come and have interest but we’re looking forward to continued conversation,“ said Jen Theneman of the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership.

Ownership of Good Counsel Hill won’t officially trade hands until this fall, then renovations will begin on the century-old buildings.
