“Zero Waste Day” returning to Sibley Park

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A unique recycling opportunity is coming to Sibley Park this Sunday.

“Zero Waste Day” is a chance to make a green mark in the community with electronic recycling, a food drive for the ECHO food shelf and a clothing swap, allowing people to bring their old wardrobe and shop around for something different.

There is even an option for clothing repair, as a group of sewists will be available to patch up old clothes good as new.

This is the second year of the event, and organizers said that letting nothing go to waste is an ideology that requires the whole community to work together.

“It’s very important to raise awareness about this in our community because the landfill is a very bad place to put our food scraps, our clothing and all the things that we could reuse, recycle and compost,“ organizer Jane Dow said.

Zero Waste Day will be in Sibley Park this Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
