“Theatre Physics” returns without its longtime director
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Bethany Lutheran College is bringing back a long-running tradition, but now without their longtime director.
Peter Bloedel directed “Theatre Physics” for over 30 years. After a break in 2024, the show returns again this weekend, however, this time without Bloedel.
Bloedel was directing the comedy showcase with his son, until suffering two heart attacks as the show neared completion.
Bloedel is now recovering and is home from the hospital, but his son Hans is now running the show alone.
The show will open Friday without its creator at the helm for the first time.
“My dad really is my hero,” Hans Bloedel said. “It’s cool being able to step into this role when he needs the help. So that’s maybe the significance of the moment for me, just being able to rise to the occasion when he needs the assistance on it.”
Theatre Physics 31 opens Friday at Bethany with shows at 7 and 9 p.m.
There are also shows Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
