Mankato Marathon needs volunteers to help with the 3,000+ expected runners

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) -

The 16th annual Mankato Marathon is approaching. The full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, kids races and virtual options are October 17 and 18.

The route is the same as the last three years and more information on traffic detours will be released, soon.

Event organizers say more volunteers are still needed to help along the route, including cheer stations and water stops.

Visit Mankato expects more than 3,000 racers to flock to Mankato for the Marathon weekend.

Organizer, Joy Leafblad said, “The last time I looked we have 36 different states register as runners, as well as Canada, London and Germany.”

It takes 500 volunteers to put on the event!
