MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Due to the government shutdown, funding for programs like SNAP are at risk.

Blue Earth County Officials say if the government were to reopen before the end of the month, November benefits could come through normally. However, they say it is all too uncertain right now.

Blue Earth County’s Human Services Supervisor Emily Mumford said people should be “thinking about what you’re purchasing. Things that might last a little longer into November. If you’re not able to access benefits in November, [that] is what I would recommend to people.”

Mumford says people can still apply for SNAP benefits. She also says MFIB benefits could be impacted but WIC will not be.
