Dam Store announces hours during winter season
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Some changes are coming to the Dam Store in their new location in downtown Mankato.
Historically, the cafe closed each winter, but after moving away from the Rapidan Dam, when their original home was demolished in the midst of last year’s historic flooding, they’re now experimenting with winter hours.
Starting Nov. 1, the cafe will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The store’s owners said that with the new location they’re still working out the kinks of what works best, and that includes experimenting with staying open all winter and closing after lunch.
“It’s all new to us, so we’ll just figure it out along the way and see how it goes,” co-owner David Hruska said. “We don’t know if it’s going to be busy here during the winter months, so we’ll just see.”
The Dam store moved into their new location on Front Street in October of last year.
