Mankato Public Safety hands out 100 holiday meals to those in need
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) -
A $2,000 grant came into the city from the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation.
Hy-Vee matched that grant to buy turkeys, hams, and sides for those in need.
Cars pulled into the Mankato Fire Department to receive their meals courtesy of those that keep the area safe.
Commander Sam McGinnis said, “Ahh it feels great. We’ve identified 100 families through Blue Earth County human services and the school district that needed some food this holiday season and this is how were able to serve them.”
The invitation-only event was the first time the Mankato Department of Public Safety has done something like this.
