MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Mankato Area Public Schools announces Eagle Lake Elementary will be opening a day care.

Two Classrooms will be converted into daycares in hopes of addressing the need for day care in the community.

The estimated costs will be $1.8 Million dollars and the project start date is yet to be announced.

Eagle Lake City Administrator Jennifer Bromeland says this is going to fill a great need in the community.

“It’s an economic development issue,” Bromeland explained. “If we don’t have childcare, we risk losing new families coming into our community. So, having childcare is so important to our local employers, to the greater Mankato area, and just to continue to grow as a community.”

Bromeland says seeing the school step up to fill this need for the community is very commendable and appreciated by the city.
