MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) -

Six anonymous donors have pledged to match 30 thousand dollars to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive. They’re calling it 30 K by Saturday.

This was in response to recent cold temperatures causing a lack of bell ringers, which in turn, causes a lack in donations.

Captain Andy Wheeler of the Salvation Army said this is the boost the fundraising effort needed.

“It’s like a shot of adrenaline in the arm of our campaign if you will,” Wheeler said with excitement. “It’s Just really exciting, I can’t wait to see how the community responds to this challenge.”

Wheeler even hinted at a potential for there to be an even larger match of monies for the cause.

But in order to do this, it will take all hands-on deck.

“If you have extra time please-please sign up to ring the bell because the only way that were going to meet this match is by having kettles that are staffed but then having people that are willing to put money in them buckets,” Wheeler urges.

Wheeler also said all of this is possible because of the belief in the work the salvation army does for the community.
