Multiple crews respond to grass fire

LE SUEUR COUNTY, Minn. (KEYC) - Multiple fire departments respond to a fire near Lake Washington.

The fire was reported around 4:00 Friday in a slough area on the south side of Lake Washington, northeast of the Mankato Municipal Airport.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.

Update: Eagle Lake, Kasota, Madison Lake and Cleveland fire departments all responded, in addition to the Le Sueur County and Blue Earth County sheriff’s offices. There were no injuries, but Mayo Ambulance was on standby.

Thursday’s rain was not enough to saturate the ground or impact the dry vegetation. Before 6 Friday night, the fire was mostly out.

A Blue Earth County drone was used to check for hot spots. A cause is under investigation.
