Fillin Station to move after 27 years

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A Mankato coffee shop is moving out of its downtown location of more than 25 years.

This weekend, the Fillin Station will say goodbye to its longtime home, moving just down the street to the former 507 location.

Owners said that the move is because of the upcoming demolition of the building to make room for the Front Street Plaza project that will create a 150-unit apartment complex and four-story office building on the site.

The move is temporary, as the shop plans on moving back into the new construction once it’s finished.

“It’s the same old story of old stuff having a lot of problems with it and evolving as a community, even. In a lot of ways we’ve outgrown this place,“ the shop’s owner Bennett Coughlan said.

The Fillin Station is having a sendoff for the old building this weekend with its “Final Fill-Up”, inviting the community to enjoy the historic space one last time, closing this Sunday at 5 p.m.
