Isolated rain chances today, Friday ahead of quieter weekend on deck
Minor rain chances possible today and Friday with a quieter weekend on the way.
We are looking at generally quiet conditions with plenty of sunshine mixed in as we make our way into the upcoming weekend; however, we could see a few isolated showers to a thunderstorm or two possible along the I-90 area today and isolated showers around the entire area for a short time throughout Friday.
Today will be mostly sunny with some partial cloudiness for a brief time this afternoon due to a few isolated showers, a thunderstorm or two possible along I-90 in southern Minnesota. These minor rain chances may develop a little after 4 pm this afternoon before fizzling out between 6 and 7 pm. Keep in mind, this means that not everyone will be affected by these minor rain chances, and not everyone along the I-90 area will see them either. They will be extremely isolated and short lived and likely leaving behind little to no accumulation. Temperatures across the area will top out in the low to mid-70s with a light breeze between 10 and 15 mph, gusts up to 20 mph possible at times. Tonight will then remain clear and quiet but cool with temperatures dropping into the low-50s by tomorrow morning.
Friday will then be mostly sunny for most of the day with partial cloudiness through the early to mid-afternoon hours as we could see more isolated showers to a stray thunderstorm or two possible. Those minor rain chances are anticipated to move across the area between 12 pm and 4 pm for most of the area. Those of you along the MN/IA border may see showers linger until closer to 6 pm and 7 pm in the evening. Again, these will be rather light leaving behind little to no accumulation - likely a tenth of an inch or less across the area. Temperatures will be a tad warmer, hovering in the mid-70s through the afternoon hours with with a breeze as winds hover between 15 and 20 mph, gusts up to 30 mph possible. Tomorrow night will return to being mostly clear and quiet across the area as temperatures drop into the mid-50s by Saturday morning.
Saturday will start off mostly sunny and pleasant with temperatures hovering in the mid-70s and light winds between 5 and 10 mph. Saturday night will become partly cloudy as temperatures drop into the upper-50s by Sunday morning.
Sunday will then be mostly cloudy with a few showers possible around the area as temperatures top out in the low-70s and winds hover between 10 and 15 mph, gusts up to 20 mph possible at times. Sunday night will remain mostly cloudy with a few showers possible as temperatures drop into the mid-50s by Monday morning.
Monday and Tuesday will be mostly cloudy to partly cloudy respectively with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible throughout Monday, lingering into early Tuesday morning before wrapping up. Temperatures will likely hover in the mid-70s both afternoons with winds hovering between calm conditions and 10 mph. Overnight temperatures are anticipated to drop into the upper-50s by Tuesday morning and the upper-50s by Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will return to being mostly sunny with partial cloudiness mixed in through the evening hours. A few more showers may move across parts of the area through the evening hours before wrapping up Wednesday night. Temperatures will top out in the upper-70s with winds between 5 and 15 mph. Wednesday night, temperatures will likely drop into the upper-50s by Thursday morning.
Thursday through Saturday of next weekend will teeter between mostly sunny and partly cloudy with relatively seasonal temperatures hovering in the upper-70s and low-80s. Winds are projected to hover between 5 and 15 mph with occasional gusts up to 20 mph possible. As of right now, we are looking at a chance of rain possible next Saturday, but with that being more than a week away, we are likely to see that change between now and then. Overnight temperatures are anticipated to drop into the mid-60s by the following mornings.
