Lucas may only be in 3rd grade, but he already has a niche for reading and math. He said he enjoys math because it comes easy/natural to him. When it comes to reading, he is currently reading the Titanic while he rides the bus to and from school. He has also ready nearly all of the Storey Treehouse books. He enjoys those books so much has has actually read them multiple times and can recite the beginning of them from memory!
When he is not in school or reading, you can find him outside enjoying the nice weather in the summer time, or building snow forts in the winter. He said he likes summer until he’s tired of the heat and humidity, then he can’t wait for the winter to come; however, when he’s tired of the bitter cold and snow, he said he can’t wait for summer to return! During the summer months, you can find him riding his bike, playing with friends at the park, or swimming every chance he gets! During the winter, he will still go out and play in the snow, typically building snow forts for him and his friends to sit in. If the weather is not cooperating, you can find him inside reading or playing games on his tablet.
When it comes to sports, he likes to play catch with his mom quite often. He also played soccer for the first time last year and enjoyed it. He said he mainly played as the Striker position on offense and has even scored a couple of goals already! Despite being in 3rd grade, he is already looking forward to trying out football next year when he is in fourth grade. He said football is his favorite sport and that he can’t wait to give it a try.
If he could go anywhere on vacation, he said (without hesitation) that he would choose to go to Hawaii because it’s warm and tropical. He said if he ever gets the chance to go, he would love to snorkel and/or scuba dive to see all the reefs, sea creatures, and the turtles. He also mentioned it would be cool to see the volcanoes and lava flow if they are active!
